Biografie l Petra de Vree
De energie en passie van vrouwen uit vele verschillende culturen wereldwijd zijn de belangrijkste inspiratiebronnen voor Petra de Vree. Ze wil haar beelden krachtig, trots en zelfverzekerd neerzetten; vrouwelijk en in grote diversiteit. Jarenlang in het buitenland wonen op vier verschillende continenten is een groot voorrecht voor een Europese kunstenaar. Deze ervaring heeft haar werk sterk beïnvloed en de mix van verschillende culturele indrukken heeft een grote bijdrage geleverd aan de uniciteit van haar beelden.
Na haar kunstopleiding aan de TeHaTex in Nijmegen en de ABK in Arnhem begon Petra haar loopbaan als leraar Beeldend Vormen op de middelbare school. 7 jaar later greep ze de kans op een leven in het buitenland en woonde ze in landen als Nepal, Guatemala, Ghana, Bangladesh en Vietnam. In Bolivia, het land waar ze bijna zeve jaar woonde en werkte, raakte ze voor het eerst in decennia klei aan en dat was liefde op het eerste gezicht.
“Klei is een perfect medium voor mij. Ik speel er graag mee om nieuwe mogelijkheden te ontdekken. Gedreven door mijn eigen nieuwsgierigheid naar wie het beeld zal worden, vind ik het soms moeilijk om te stoppen met werken. Met mijn handen, ogen en vingers streef ik naar een evenwicht in esthetische vormen en natuurlijke lijnen, waardoor elk beeld haar eigen persoonlijkheid krijgt. Van kinds af aan voel ik me verbonden met allerlei vormen in de natuur. De glooiende lijnen van een landschap, de vormen van fruit of de spiraalvormige groei van een wijnstok, de prachtige kleuren van vissen en vogels, de unieke fenomenen van de zeewereld, de ruwe textuur van een omgeploegd land. We hoeven onze ogen maar te openen om ervan te kunnen genieten.”
Petra vindt het een geweldige ervaring als een geglazuurd beeld uit de oven komt. “Ik ben verrast door de interessante mix van kleuren en tegelijkertijd de herkenning van de persoonlijkheid. Het is een soort deja-vu, alsof ze altijd heeft bestaan en hier simpelweg hoort te zijn. Door iets te creëren dat er voorheen niet was, ervaar ik intens de verrassing van schoonheid. Dit maakt me blij en gepassioneerd. Het mooiste compliment dat ik van kunstkopers kan krijgen, is als ze me laten weten dat ze na jaren van bezit nog steeds kracht en inspiratie halen uit mijn beelden. Wetende dat mijn werk dit bij andere mensen kan doen, maakt de cirkel rond en zorgt voor hernieuwde inspiratie voor het volgende werk.”
Beelden van Petra zijn gekocht door mensen van over de hele wereld, van Canada tot Japan, en van Frankrijk tot Australië. In Nederland is haar werk zowel in particuliere collecties als in diverse openbare gebouwen opgenomen.
Biography | Petra de Vree
The energy and passion of women from many different cultures worldwide are the main sources of inspiration for Petra de Vree. She wants to create her sculptures powerfully, proudly and confidently; feminine and in great diversity.
Living abroad for years on four different continents is a great privilege for a European artist. This experience has strongly influenced her work and the mix of different cultural impressions has greatly contributed to the uniqueness of her work.
After her art education at the TeHaTex in Nijmegen and the ABK in Arnhem, Petra started her career as a teacher of Arts at secondary school. 7 years later she seized the opportunity of a life abroad and lived in countries such as Nepal, Guatemala, Ghana, Bangladesh and Vietnam. In Bolivia, the country where she lived and worked for more than 6 years, she touched clay for the first time in decades and that was love at first sight.
“Clay is a perfect medium for me. I like to play with it to discover new possibilities. Driven by my own curiosity about who the sculpture will become, I sometimes find it difficult to stop working. With my hands, eyes and fingers I strive for a balance in aesthetic shapes and natural lines, giving each image its own personality.
Ever since I was a child I have felt connected to all kinds of forms in nature. The sloping lines of a landscape, the shapes of fruits or the spiraling growth of a vine, the beautiful colors of fish and birds, the unique phenomena of the sea world, the rough texture of a plowed land. We only have to open our eyes to enjoy it.” Petra finds it’s a great experience when a glazed statue comes out of the kiln. “I am surprised by the interesting mix of colors and at the same time the recognition of the personality. It’s a kind of deja-vu, as if she’s always existed and simply should be here.
By creating something that was not there before, I intensely experience the surprise of beauty. This makes me happy and passionate. The best compliment I can get from art buyers is when they let me know that after years of ownership they still draw strength and inspiration from my sculptures. Knowing that my work can do this to other people closes the circle and provides renewed inspiration for the next work.”
Sculptures of Petra are bought by people from all over the world, from Canada to Japan, from France to Australia. In the Netherlands her work can be found in private collections as well as in various public buildings.
Biografie l Judith Lansink
Judith Lansink studeerde aan verschillende kunstacademies: na een jaar AKI in Enschede,
volgde ze de ABK in Arnhem, om vervolgens af te studeren aan de Gerrit Rietveld
Academie. In de jaren na de akademie ontwierp ze tientallen decors voor landelijke opera-,
toneel- en balletgezelschappen. In 1983 ontving ze de Prosceniumprijs voor dit
theater-oeuvre. De vroegere drang om te gaan schilderen bleef echter aanhouden totdat ze de
ommezwaai maakte in 1997. Aanvankelijk begonnen als succesvol portretschilder startte ze
in 2008 met haar eerste vrije werken. De verwantschap met haar theater verleden vertaalde zich
aanvankelijk in olieverven met scènes en achtergronden, maar gaandeweg ontwikkelden
deze zich als geabstraheerde landschappen.
Kunsthistoricus Lida Bonnema over het nieuwste werk van Judith Lansink:
“Haar geabstraheerde landschap impressies doen de kijker de ruimtelijkheid van de natuur
ervaren. Een beleving die ze wisselend oproept door middel van verstilde, dan wel
dynamische composities, die vaak oneindige dieptes suggereren.
Haar steeds vrijere aanpak van verf en techniek maakt dat haar doeken steeds abstracter
worden. De landschappelijke duiding blijft hierbij echter beeldbepalend en wordt gaandeweg
gekenmerkt door schilderkunstige experimenten, met steeds verrassende composities en
wisselende schildertechnieken, al naargelang het beeld zich ontwikkelt.”.
Het werk van Judith Lansink bevindt zich inmiddels in vele particuliere verzamelingen
alsmede in diverse musea en instellingen in binnen- en buitenland.
Biography | Judith Lansink
Judith Lansink studied at various art academies: after a year at AKI in Enschede, she
attended the ABK in Arnhem, and then graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in
Amsterdam. In the years that followed she created dozens of stage designs for national
opera, theater and ballet companies. She received the Proscenium Prize for her body of
work in theatre in 1983.However, the urge to paint persisted until she made the turnaround
in 1997. Having worked as a successful portrait painter for over tenyears, she started painting
her first free works in 2009. She initially expressed her affinitywith theater production in oilpainted
scenes and backgrounds, but gradually developed these into abstract landscapes.
Art historian Lida Bonnema about the latest work by Judith Lansink:
“Her abstract landscape impressions make the viewer experience the spaciousness of
nature. An experience that she invokes by alternating tranquil and dynamic compositions,
which often suggest infinite depths. Her increasingly freer approach to technique and paint
make her canvases increasingly abstract. The landscape interpretation remains
image-determining and is gradually characterised
by pictorial experiments, with still surprising compositions and varying painting techniques,
according to the development of the image.”
Judith Lansink’s work can now be found in many private collections as well as in various
museums and institutions at home and abroad.
Biografie l Willy Felice
Willy Felice begon op haar 16e jaar te schilderen. Ze studeerde aan de Vrije Academie, AKI
ArtEZ University of Arts en behaalde haar master aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie.
Als theatervormgeefster en producente werkte ze mee aan meer dan 160 voorstellingen met
bijzondere regisseurs en choreografen.
Zij keerde terug naar het schilderen in het jaar 2000 en werkte tot 2012 in beide disciplines.
In een ruig deel van Amsterdam heeft zij haar gastvrije atelier en exposeert regelmatig in
binnen-en buitenland. Haar werk is inmiddels opgenomen in een aantal privé collecties.
De schilderijen zijn geïnspireerd op vele reizen en op poëzie, ook de Arabische poëzie.
Waarom de de Arabische? Als voorzitter van The Young Arabian Theatre Fund heeft zij zich
vele jaren ingezet om kunstenaars in Arabische landen te ondersteunen en heeft zich, mede
daardoor, de taal en het schrift eigen gemaakt. Dat leidde tot een inspiratiebron waardoor
tal van werken zijn ontstaan.
Uit een recensie: “Het zijn geheimzinnige werelden om in te verdwijnen en te bevragen.
De abstracte beelden zijn gemaakt met een scherp oog voor kleur, compositie en detail.
Ieder werk een visioen van verbeelding, geschilderd op ragfijn bladgoud´´.
Biography l Willy Felice
Willy Felice started to paint at the age of 16. She took lessons at the Vrije Academie in the
Hague, AKI ArtEZ University of the Arts and graduated at the Rietveld Academie in
Amsterdam. Following her graduation, she worked as a stylist, art director and videographer,
but found her home in theatre and the world of dance, first as a costume and set designer
and later as a producer. She collaborated with many exceptional directors and
choreographers on approximately 160 performances.
During and after a sabbatical year, Willy Felice retreated at Artist in residenties to focus back
on painting. Her work is inspired by the culture of the Middle East and poetry. In an edgy part
of Amsterdam she rents an artist’s studio, which to this day has been an inspiring location.
From the year 2012 she is working full time as a visual artist and exhibited abroad and in
The Netherlands. Her work can be found in many private collections.
